Job Description: The Developer is primarily responsible for assisting our client's Technical Team in creating, modifying, implementing and maintaining custom applications for use with applications and databases. Responsibilities also include assisting in the daily operations and maintenance of all of systems and applications as well as assisting in the design and implementation of applications that address current and future requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Works as part of the technical team that designs, develops, implements and maintains our client's systems and applications.
2. Assists the team in maintaining the infrastructure that supports our client's applications, databases, and production processes.
3. Enables our client's content providers, participating member stations and administrators access to appropriate databases through custom applications.
4. Investigates, evaluates, and implements technologies for database and application development.
5. Provides technical advice concerning applications, databases, servers, and production processes.
6. Assists Manager, Application Development in maintaining development and requirements processes for technical projects.
7. Works with Project Managers and other members of the team to develop applications based on requirements.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Three years experience developing Web-enabled database applications that interface databases.
2. Three years experience with OOD/OOP methodologies in Java/JSP/Struts.
3. Three years experience with SQL.
4. MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO YEARS OF PHP WORK EXPERIENCE. PREFER PHP 5.
5. Two years experience with HTML and JavaScript.
6. Two years experience with XML, XSL and other data syndication technologies.
7. Strong grasp of client/server networking applications involving Web servers and databases.
8. Strong grasp of various computer operating systems, including different versions of UNIX, Mac and Windows.
9. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Familiarity with CSS.
2. Command of PERL.
3. Experience with PL/SQL and other Oracle-specific database features.
4. Strong grasp of Web services.
5. Strong grasp of various search technologies.
6. Experience with Configuration Management (especially CVS and ANT).
7. Experience with modeling tools and UML.
8. Knowledge of multi-media formats, including MP3, Windows Media, Real Audio and video formats.
